Our educators create daily program plans tailored to the children's interests, aiming to make engaging and enjoyable learning experiences. These plans cover a wide range of developmental skills, including social, emotional, communication, language and literacy, cognitive, and physical development. Additionally, they draw from the "How Does Learning Happen" pedagogical theory, emphasizing four foundational principles: Belonging, Well-Being, Engagement, and Expression. These principles, combined with the developmental skills, underscore the belief that children are capable, possess complex thinking abilities, exhibit curiosity, and harbor vast potential.
To strengthen communication with parents, both in-person discussions and the "HiMama" program are used to address developmental milestones.
For infants, there is a gradual one-week introduction to the daycare, while older or transitioning infants have access to a specially tailored menu provided by Real Food for Real Kids.
Our Infant Room offers 10 spaces, ensuring a warm and attentive setting for your little ones. To provide the best care possible, we maintain a staff-to-child ratio of 3:1, allowing our experienced educators to offer individualized attention.
We encourage families to contribute essential items to make your child's time with us comfortable such as, extra clothing, diaper-changing supplies, sunscreen, and comfort items for their children.
Our educators engage infants in age-appropriate activities to stimulate their curiosity and support their early development. We use the Nippissing Screening Tool to monitor developmental progress, ensuring that our activities align with each child's unique needs and milestones.
Our facility is authorized to accommodate 10 toddlers and maintains a staff-to-child ratio of 1:5. Parents are kindly requested to supply essential diapering items, spare clothing, sunscreen, and suitable outdoor attire. We utilize the Nippissing Screening Tool to assess the developmental progress of each child. This tool helps us tailor our activities and interactions to meet the unique needs and milestones of each toddler, fostering their growth in a supportive environment. We actively encourage children to explore self-feeding, promoting independence and fine motor skills. Our educators provide necessary assistance to support your child's journey towards becoming a confident eater. Additionally, toilet training will be gradually introduced as part of the developmental process, ensuring a positive and child-centered approach.
Our childcare room is licensed to accommodate up to 16 children, ensuring a cozy and personalized setting for each child. To guarantee individualized attention and quality care, we maintain a staff-to-child ratio of 2 educators per room. This enables our dedicated staff to create meaningful interactions and support each child's unique needs and developmental milestones. Children entering these rooms should be in the initial stages of toilet training. We encourage a collaborative effort between parents and staff to ensure a smooth transition. To facilitate this process, we kindly request that parents provide extra and suitable changes of clothing for their child's comfort and convenience.
We believe in fostering independence in our young learners. As part of this philosophy, we encourage children to feed themselves while offering supportive assistance from our dedicated staff members
Children who attend Thorncliffe Park Day Care Centre are dropped off no later than 10am. When a child does not arrive by this time staff will follow SAD procedures to ensure the well-being of the child, as well as steps to ensure the safe dismissal of children in care .
